Facing cash crunch, Pakistan said on Monday that Russia has agreed to provide petrol and diesel at discounted prices. Pakistan is trying to maintain current account deficit due to payment of energy. About a month ago, the country’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had said that Pakistan is exploring the possibility of buying Russian oil at low prices like India.
domestic gas shortage in pakistan
Pakistan is not able to meet the domestic gas supply. Winter is coming and the country is searching for cheap oil supplies due to the dwindling foreign exchange reserves. While addressing a press conference, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Petroleum Mussadiq Malik said that going to Moscow has been more fruitful than expected.
He went to Russia last week to supply petrol at low prices. He told that Russia has decided to provide crude oil to Pakistan at discounted prices. He said that this is the oil which the refinery used to make diesel and petrol. He told that Russia will also give petrol and diesel to Pakistan at low prices.
Russian government called for talks
The Russian government is setting up new factories to produce LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and has invited Pakistan to negotiate long-term contracts for 2025 and 2026. He has given this statement at a time when the Executive Committee of the European Union has asked the 27 member countries to impose a limit of US $ 60 on Russian oil prices.
This is an attempt by the West to reduce Moscow’s oil revenue. With this, he wants that there should be problems in his war in Ukraine. And with this, oil prices and supplies remained stable at the global level.
Let us tell you that India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar while talking on the issue of buying oil from Russia has said that European Unions have imported more fossil fuel from Russia than 10 countries combined from February to November. Import of oil in European Union is six times that of oil imported by India.
