What is France’s pension reform?
French President Emmanuel Macron is probably going through the most difficult phase of his political career these days. The reason is a reform done there regarding the rules related to pension. The condition is so bad that Macron’s government has to face a motion of no confidence in the Parliament there.
Emmanuel Macron’s government in France has proposed to increase the retirement age by two years to 64 years. This law is to be implemented gradually till 2030. Every year from September this year, the age limit will be increased by 3 months and by 2030 it will be 64 years.
Apart from this, another reform in the pension system has been done to remove the ‘Special Regime’. This facility allows many people working in the government sector to retire early. At the same time, the number of working years has been increased to 43 to get full pension.

The people there have disliked this pension reform of the French government. In fact, people have come out on the streets of France since January 31 regarding this. But on March 16, when Emmanuel Macron’s government tried to forcefully implement this reform using the powers of ‘Article 49.3’, the protest turned violent.
