According to a source in a PTI report, “Meity (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) is considering reforming the bill to exempt early-stage startups from the provisions of the DPDP (Digital Personal Data Protection) Bill. The draft DPDP proposes exemptions for data collection, data sharing, disclosure of data processing, etc. only for data entities and data processing entities notified by the government. - The fourth principle is regarding data protection and accountability and it states that the data collected should be processed securely and collected in a secure manner without access to unauthorized persons.
- The fifth principal talks about the accuracy of the data. The data of individuals stored must be accurate and updated over time. The individual should have the right to inspect/delete/update his/her data.
- The final principal sets the rules regarding reporting a data breach. In case of a data breach, it should be reported to the Data Protection Board in a fair, transparent and equitable manner.
